FUTWIZ Dylan's 4231 Custom Tactics

Dylan shares his FC 24 Custom Tactics

by Dcampbell20_ - Team FUTWIZ Pro, 2021 eWorld Cup Finalist, 2022 E-League Champion

We understand that in EA Sports FC 24, everyone is constantly seeking the most effective tactics. To provide some insight, we asked FUTWIZ Pro Dylan for his recommendations. Here is what he had to say.

He prefers to use 4-2-3-1, as this year it’s back to popularity and he prefers it to other 4 at the back tactics.

Here are the tactics, along with a brief explanation of why he recommends them. Additionally, there will be an overview of the types of players you should consider for each position.

Defence
  • Defensive Style: Balanced
  • Width: 40
  • Depth: 55

Offence
  • Build Up Play: Balanced
  • Chance Creation: Balanced
  • Width: 55
  • Players in the Box: 5
  • Corners: 2
  • Free Kicks: 2

As you can see, Dylan prefers Balanced approach to his game in both defense and offence. This way he’s not getting countered a lot, covers wings and has, at the same time, enough people in the middle.

With patient approach to attack, you don’t need a lot of depth. 55 is perfectly fine, if you can control the ball, time passes and runs well and be comfortable with getting your opponents methodically out of their defenses. Nothing really unusual with Corners and Free Kicks. 2 on both, just not to get countered, and, to be fair, you don’t need a lot of players in the box anyway.

Player Instructions
These are the player instructions which Ethan recommends:

  • GK - Default
  • CB - Default
  • LB - Stay Back While Attacking
  • RB - Stay Back While Attacking
  • LDM – Balanced, Cover Center
  • RDM - Balanced, Cover Center, Deep Lying Playmaker
  • LAM - Come Back on Defense, Get Into The Box for Cross
  • RAM - Come Back on Defense, Get Into The Box for Cross
  • CAM – Balanced, untouched
  • ST - Stay Forward

A short explanation as to the reasons behind these instructions is as follows:

Defense is basic this year. With “Stay Back while Attacking” on full back you wouldn’t get caught too much on counter attacks, so it basically helps your defending.

Dylan uses different approach to both of his DMs. He uses left DM as more defensive one, so he puts him on Balanced and Cover Center. Right one is more attacking, so he adds “Deep Lying Playmaker” role for him. You can use “Stay back while attacking” on both of them, if you’ll struggle with defending, but Dylan recommends keeping on balanced, because this year it’s important to have both DMs in attack to help to score more goals for your team. Plus, with his tactics – they won’t be too deep, so they’ll still be in the middle of the pitch.

Both LAM and RAM on Come Back on Defense and Get Into the Box for Cross. Get into the box for Cross is important this year, especially, for back post headers, as they are working well in this year’s game. CAM is your sweet spot to control the pitch and Striker on Stay Forward.

Players to use
This is the team Dylan has been using with this formation and instructions. It’s pretty much affordable team, if you don’t look at Striker, but, of course, you can use different alternatives to players. It’s just basic info on which players Dylan prefers to use.

4231 Squad

In order to help you build your team, these are the types of players you should be looking to fill these positions with:

  • GK – Usually used for links, but there are several good keepers in game. You can use Alisson or Donnarumma, if you’re La Liga fan – there are 3 great options for you, but overall GKs are used as chemistry boosts. Choose one that you need for your team.
  • CB – Dylan recommends basic depth and width, so pace might not be as important, as if it’d be in more attacking instructions, but still! There are a lot of CBs to choose from, there are meta CBs like Varane, VVD, Kounde, Militao and others. You choose who you can afford and who you like IRL. Maybe you’re Dunk enjoyer and you’ll go for his evolved version of Centurions.
  • LB/RB – There are quite a few options for full-backs, still depending on who your squad needs. If you have cash to splash – go with your Walker’s or Mendy’s. But there’re more options in game right now, especially with some evolutions that can help you. Pace and defending are crucial in this formation, so look out for those stats.
  • LDM – More defensive out of 2 players. If you’re uncomfortable – switch sides. Preferably, with some higher defending and pace. Club 80 is welcomed here, so he wouldn’t get lost in attack. For example, POTM Bellingham (or just NIF Jude).
  • RDM – Your attacking DM. Dylan recommends using more attacking player, like KDB, but you can choose whoever you enjoy using in that style of play. Maybe your choice would be Aitana Bonmati or Alexia Putellas, if you have the cash, or maybe you’d like someone as Dom Szoboszlai. Your choice, your preference in players and depending on your budget.
  • LAM/RAM – You need 2 fast players, that will track back sometimes. Wing play is crucial this year and a lot of goals coming from your wingers. It all depends on your budget, but there are some quality options in every price range. Pace and dribbling are the most important stats, while shooting can’t be ignored too.
  • CAM – Your main man. A lot of gameplay based on him and you must choose carefully. You might spend the biggest on him, so he’ll shine. Dylan recommends a player with higher dribbling, someone like Messi. But, you get an idea. High dribbling, passing and shooting – are welcomed!
  • ST – This is your goal scorer, your WL record depends on him. Some may choose players who they enjoy more. Or they are used to playing in FUT. It all depends with your play style, if you want proper striker – go with your Lewa’s or Kane’s, if you’re different kind of player – use smaller and faster player. Find the one that fits your playstyle.

Dylan recommends you tinkering tactics for yourself a bit, but still he gives you a baseline for what he’d recommend using. Hopefully they’ll help you out and you’ll get better results with them!
