Title Update #9 is now available for all versions of EA SPORTS FC 24 and after testing the patch here is an update on the changes you can expect to see and the best custom tactics to use post patch.

This article will focus on gameplay changes and any changes within Ultimate Team.

Gameplay

The gameplay changes form a major portion of this update, with the two main changes being a ‘nerf’ to Trivela shooting/passing and crossing, and then a ‘buff’ to Secondary Contain.

Trivela Changes

These are the changes that are documented in the patch notes regarding Trivelas:

• Reduced effectiveness of Outside Foot Shots for players with or without the Trivela PlayStyle and PlayStyle+.
• Moderately reduced Outside Foot Shot accuracy.
• Reduced the maximum potential amount of top spin the ball can have from an Outside Foot Shot.

So what does this mean exactly? Pre Patch it was fairly easy to score consistently using the Trivela shooting mechanics, even non timed shots would go in with a high success rate. Since the patch has arrived Trivela shots have a lower success rate, and the requirement to time these shots for them to be successful is much higher now.

You can definitely still score Trivelas, they haven’t been nerfed to a state where they are unusable, they have just been balanced a bit more and they are still a very effective way to score goals.

Regarding Trivela passing and crossing, these have also received a nerf, possibly even more so than the shooting side of trivelas. The speed and accuracy of these have been reduced which is definitely noticeable in game.

Secondary Contain Changes

These are the changes that are documented in the patch notes regarding Secondary Contain:

• Updated player selection logic when using Secondary Contain.

What this basically means is that post patch when you would chose to use secondary contain, the player that was selected by the AI to perform the press wasn’t always the most obvious or the best choice, whereas post patch there should be an improvement in this as the logic has been adjusted to help chose the best player.

Ultimate Team

This update also implemented a few minor changes to Ultimate Team that you may notice, these are:

Addressed the following issues:

• Some Player Item rarities could have displayed incorrectly.
• The News menu video player did not expand to full screen.
• On rare occasions, pyrotechnics could have appeared in the centre of the pitch.

Tactics

So what are the best formation and tactics post patch? Well as the gameplay hasn’t significantly changed enough to see a shift in the meta, the most effective formation to use in game right now is still the 4321, these custom tactics below would still be the recommended tactics to use:

If you don’t want to use the 4321 formation there are still a lot of viable formations you can use, they are just not considered as the best.
