FC 25 is right round the corner and it’s now time to start thinking about your starting squad in Ultimate Team. Having a strong starting team is really important for the first few weeks of FC 25 as you can really compete in the first Weekend League where getting the best rewards possible is vital.
As always, the big question is what league or nation you should go for. So today, we’re going to give you some starter squads which should hopefully help with your decision!
Premier League Starting Squad:
GK: Vicario- Goalkeepers, including high-rated ones, are normally quite cheap at the start of the game, so you should be able to get a good keeper quite easily.
RB: Gusto- The Chelsea full-back has 88 pace and good defensive, physical and dribbling stats which are important for a full-back in FC.
CBs: Gomez and Todibo- Both of these defenders have great pace for a starting centre-back as well as solid defending and physical. They may not be as good as Van der Ven (82), but they will be much more affordable.
LB: Kadioglu- Kadioglu is very similar to Gusto in that he has 88 pace and strong stats in other key areas. A standout for him though is that he has 85 dribbling which is brilliant.
CM: Joelinton and Caicedo- Both central midfielders are very well-rounded. Caicedo would be better suited as a defensive midfielder due to him only having 63 shooting, however, Joelinton is a perfect box-to-box as he has strong pace and shooting to go alongside 89 physical which is great!
LM: Doku- Doku’s high pace and dribbling stats are what make him a perfect starting winger. Yes, his shooting isn’t the best, but having the speed and dribbling to beat full-backs early on in FC 25 is critical.
RM: Kudus- Similarly to Doku, Kudus has high pace and dribbling, but differently, he has much better shooting. This may make him a little bit expensive, but he will be exceptional down the right flank.
ST: Werner and Bailey- The beauty about these two is that they can both play on the wing as well! Both of these cards have similar stats with high pace, solid shooting and great dribbling. Bailey does have a 2* weak foot which may be off-putting, however, if he is able to cut in on his left, he’ll be clinical.
Bundesliga Starting Squad:
GK: Hradecky- There will be a theme with goalkeepers in these starting squads as there isn’t much to say about them. Like Vicario, Hradecky is reasonably high-rated and should be cheap.
RB: Boey- Right-backs in the Bundesliga are lacking a lot of quality this year, so Boey is one of the best of the bunch. He is decently quick with strong defending and physical stats.
CBs: Klostermann and Hincapie- These will be a sturdy partnership at the heart of your defence. Both are quick with great defensive and physical stats. Another option is Upamecano, however, he is likely to be a bit more pricey.
LB: Raum- The main left-back from the Bundesliga is always Alphonso Davies, but he’ll be incredibly expensive as always at the start of the game, so Raum is the next best choice.
CDMs: Can and Nmecha- A Dortmund double in the heart of the midfielder here! Both Can and Nmecha are very well rounded and can play anywhere in the middle comfortably.
CAM: Xavi Simons- Simons is an excellent CAM. He has 86 dribbling, 81 pace and strong shooting and passing stats. He also has 4* skills which is very good.
LM: Grull- He may be only 75-rated, but he has very good stats including 93 pace. There may be better options available, but he could go under the radar and be extremely cheap. He is also 4* 4* which is amazing.
RM: Amoura- The exact same can be said about Amoura here. He is also 75-rated but has even better shooting and dribbling stats than Grull.
ST: Marmoush- The Frankfurt striker can also play LW which is useful is you’d prefer him out wide. He has 89 pace, 83 dribbling and 78 shooting which is decent for a starter card.
La Liga Starting Squad:
GK: Unai Simon- In previous games, 86-rated goalkeepers have been very cheap, so if you want a really good starting keeper for cheap, Unai Simon is a great choice.
RB: Thierry Correia- Correia is probably one of the best right-backs in La Liga which may make him quite expensive. However, he’s quick with well-rounded defensive stats.
CBs: Vivian and Reinildo- There are a lot of top-tier centre-backs from the men’s Spanish league, so these two may go under the radar, especially with Reinildo’s main position being a left-back! Both are pacey and strong defensively.
LB: Balde- Again, Balde will be expensive as he’s very quick and can play either full-back position. There aren’t many better from this league at full-back, however, so if you can afford, he’ll be great.
RM: Alex Berenguer- Right midfielders and wingers are stacked for choice in La Liga, but Berenguer is a strong option. He has high dribbling and pace as well as a 4* weak foot.
CMs: Gallagher and Sow- Recently transferred Gallagher has a very well-rounded card with the majority of his stats being in the high 70s. Sow is slightly quicker with 79 pace and is his stats are also well-distributed
LM: Ansu Fati- Last year’s favourite for the first evolution is still a really good starter card. Ansu Fati has 89 pace, 81 dribbling and is 4* 4* which is ideal.
STs: Inaki Williams and Iago Aspas- These strikers are quite opposite from each other as Inaki Williams has high pace and slightly lower shooting and dribbling, whereas Aspas has high shooting and dribbling but slightly lower pace. Both might be quite expensive as they are the most admireable cards in the team.
Serie A Starting Squad:
GK: Provdel- He is 6” 4’ and has decent stats. Everything you need for a starting goalkeeper!
RB: Di Lorzeno- Di Lorzeno isn’t quite as good as he’s been in previous years, however, he is still a great starting right-back. He has 83 pace, 80 physical and 79 defending which is ideal.
CBs: Danilo and Kossounou- Danilo has great defending but is slightly slower with 76 pace. Kossounou is a hidden gem as he has 80 pace and physical and 82 defending. Hopefully he isn’t too expensive because he could be a cheap beast.
LB: Marusic- He’s not quite Theo Hernandez, but he is a much cheaper alternative! Marusic has 87 pace and 80 physical and a 4* weak foot.
CMs: Mckennie, Bennacer and Loftus-Cheek- Starting off with Mckennie, his stats are bery good for a 78-rated gold card as he could play anywhere in the midfield line. Bennacer is the perfect cm as he has well-rounded pace, shooting, defending and physical, but he has exceptional passing of 82 and dribbling which is 85. Finally, Loftus-Cheek could be another hidden gem as his stats are brilliant and he is 4* 4* as well!
RW: Pulisic- The American looks to have a really good card this year. Pulisic has 88 pace 86 dribbling and 82 shooting. He may be quite expensive as he also has a 5* weak foot, but if he is affordable, we would definitely recommend you get him.
LW: Okafor- Okafor can play striker as well if you want him to which helps. As a left winger though, he is great. With 88 pace, 88 dribbling and 4* skills and weak foot, he’ll be a great attacker for your team.
ST: Thuram- This might be a pricey pick because his card looks great. Thuram has 87 pace, 84 physical, 82 dribbling and 81 shooting. If he’s cheap, he’ll be a tank up top.
Ligue 1 Starting Squad:
GK: Samba- The only other good goalkeeper from Ligue 1 is Donnarumma who will be really expensive, so Samba is the next best choice.
RB: Clauss- Again, the right-back options from Ligue 1 are minimal, making Clauss the best option behind Hakimi who will be expensive.
CBs: Pacho and Singo- Pacho could end up being quite expensive given that he plays for PSG and he is very good. Singo however, looks like a terrific centre-back with 77 pace and defending and 83 physical.
LB: Frankowski- The main left-back choice is Nuno Mendes but he is set to be pricey again in FC 25, so Frankowski is probably your next best left-back option.
CMs: Zakaria and Joao Neves- Zakaria has 80 pace, 84 physical and 78 defending which will make for a great defensive midfield option. Joao Neves looks to be a great starter card with 81 pace and 80 dribbling and physical.
LW: Barcola- This card could become phenomenal with the right evolution. Barcola has 88 pace and 81 dribbling, which for a winger at the start of Ultimate Team is great. There is a chance he might become expensive, especially with the prospect of evolutions.
RW: Moffi- If you’re looking for a player purely for their pace, then we’d recommend Moffi. He has 91 pace and 77 shooting which is good for a winger. His dribbling being only 72 does let the card down a little though.
STs: David and Kolo Muani- Kolo Munai is the joint highest-rated striker in Ligue 1 at 82-rated. He has 90 pace, 81 dribbling and 80 shooting. Yes, he will cost a fair few coins, but the options are limited in Ligue 1. David is another option though as he has strong attacking stats with 82 pace and 81 shooting. He does as well have a 5* weak foot.
