Before getting into squad ideas I want to say before that it is very important at the start of the game that you don’t put all your coins into the team, this is because it won’t allow you to do SBCs or trade which will limit what you can do. I think the maximum you want to spend on your squad is 50% of your total coins and the lower the percentage is the better, realistically you don’t need to use a lot more of your coins until the 1st weekend league because that is where boosting your team will make more of a financial sense.
Crucial Players
Since starting budget depends on pack luck and trading i’m going to give crucial players that i think are worth trying to get into your team as well as some fully made teams.
Fullbacks – This year it seems that pace is very important and fullbacks who are good on the ball are useful as well.
Mario Fernandes – one of my favorite discard fullbacks is Mario Fernandes from the Russia league, since he is from a league that no one uses that much he will be cheap however with high pace, defending and physical he will be a solid RB also he offers you a link Dzhikiya who is a CB with 82 pace in the russian league link these two with Akinfeev and you can fit them in most squads since they don’t really need any more links in a lot of the formations.
Roussillon – one of the more expensive fullbacks this year will be Roussillon, he is one of the best LBs in the game this year for his rating and will be very demanded since bundesliga starter teams are very popular, also being french he is very easy to fit in hybrids since a lot of the good players are french and enables you to link up different leagues. With 89 pace and 80 dribbling and good defensive stats he is a very well rounded full back and will be very useful in attack and defense.
Alex Telles and
Joao Cancelo – These two are in my favourite Fullbacks this year because of how good they are on the ball, it seems so far this year that full backs will be used a lot in attack and having these two on the wings will be very useful they have high passing and dribbling with good pace and still have good defensive stats, Telles won’t be too expensive since he isn’t in a major league however if you link him with players like Fabinho/Allan and Marquinhos you will be fine
Central Defenders – Like every year in FIFA quick CBs are crucial for a defense especially with the pace the opponent has on the attack now on the counter
Georgiy Dzhikiya – as i have mentioned before with Mario Fernandes he will be very good and very cheap, being restricted on who you can use with him meaning a lot of people won’t use him meaning the price could be near discard and with the 3 main stats on the card Pace, Defending and Physical being 78 or more is amazing and is actually one of 7 CBs who have all 3 stats 78 or above which just shows how good his stats are
Joe Gomez – Joe Gomez is the definition of a meta CB for Fifa he has 81 pace he is tall and very solid, if you are going to a premier league squad I highly recommend him he will be very dominant defender and be good value for money for sure. He will rise a lot at the start of the game since the demand will be very high for him so the sooner you can get him the better it will be
Manuel Akanji – looks like one of the best CBs this year to use at the start, being in the bundesliga which is one of the most popular leagues it seems this year and now has had an upgrade he is a very solid option who is very good on the ball for a CB and very quick and is tall, making him a very well rounded CB card and I highly recommend trying to get him in your team
Central Midfielders – Midfielders this year seem that you need a very well rounded midfield this year with a defensive Midfielder and box to box and an attacking midfielder making sure you have a balance is very crucial so you can control the game
Jean-Phillippe Gbamin – this is a new midfielder in the premier league who looks a very solid option, with 80 pace and 83 Physical and good dribbling and passing he is a very good CDM and will be used a lot since he is a premier league and one of the best options, definitely getting him as soon as you can for your team and as an investment would be really good
Radja Nainggolan – He is one of the most adaptable players in the game he has always been a very good player to use however this year he has less links and is 83 rated meaning he will be cheaper and will be at an affordable price, when you need a box to box midfielder he is one of the best and I can’t see him being too much since the links reduce the amount you can use him, with every stat bar pace being at 78 means in attack or defence he will do a job for you so I highly recommend trying to get him in your team
Julian Brandt – One of the best CAMs this year, the hype in the Bundesliga for a CAM is directed at Havertz however on paper it seems that Brandy is better meaning he could be cheaper with less hype, he will be very good in controlling the game and starting attacks with high pace, passing and dribbling he seems a very meta CAM and my recommendation for a CAM if you can fit him into your team
Wingers – With wingers you need pace however with pace you definitely need shooting passing and high dribbling, if you just go off who is the quickest it won’t be the best idea because you need an end product for a winger
Diogo Jota – Jota this year is one of the best non rare players in the game this year with his 5* 4* combo and his 83 Pace and 84 dribbling he will be a very good player on the ball also will 77 shooting he will also be able to finish off some chances, when you are building a cheap team I would highly recommend this card because he is great value for money, to have a non rare card that can be good on the ball and finish the chances is not common and will definitely be one of the better low cost wingers near the start
Gerard Deulofeu – One of the best on the ball wingers at his price, with 87 dribbling and 88 pace he will be very good on the ball, only being 80 rated he won’t be so hyped especially with other options in the prem but I do still think he will be 2-3k but still definitely still worth it also with 4* 4* he allows you to use him in different ways and he can adapt on how you play especially with 93 agility he will feel amazing on the ball and could be a crucial player in a starter team
Gonçalo Guedes – will be a very good winger overall with his 4* 4* and 90 pace he will be very good on the ball also with his 79 shooting and 76 passing he will be able to make and finish chances off in the box making him a very important player in a starter team, he will have a higher price then Deulofeu since he his 83 rated and will be more demanded but if you are going for a la Liga squad and want a strong link to Joao Felix then he is a great option, since the strong link to Felix is a selling point of the card I would recommend to pick this card up quickly before people start to pick up Felix
Strikers – not until the full game comes out we only know for certain what type of ST will be best ig but the recommendation will be players who are well rounded in the main areas Pace, Shooting and Physical
Lautaro Martinez – if you are looking for a Serie A ST Martinez is one of the best options with the high strength and the great pace makes him very good on the counter attack, as well as the high dribbling and the 4*4* he will be very good on the ball, to top it all off he has great shooting stats meaning he is a very well rounded ST Card and if you wanted to invest in one main player in your starter squad Martinez would definitely be worth picking up
Jose Morales – there’s been a lot of people being put Morales in the starter squad from what I’ve seen and I definitely agree Morales is a very good card and will be not too expensive, being quite tall and having very good pace and 81 shooting and the 4* 4* combo will mean that he is a very good card also with the 84 dribbling will mean that he is very good on the ball and will be a massive part of the team if you have him in, probably at this moment one of my best recommendations if you are on a small budget
Teemu Pukki POTM – Pukki’s SBC is great value for money for the ST looking at his stats he is well balanced and will be very good in front of the net, you won’t get many STs at this price range that will be as clinical as Pukki with being in the top 6 for Shooting he will be very good at putting away chances and a very good card to work towards early on.
Team ideas
Since I’ve given crucial players to base your team around now I want to give some cheap team ideas the first team is a very cheap team, this is a team ideal for players who want to use all their coins on trading it will cost around 15k and is very good value for money, it incorporates some of my crucial players above and definitely feel it’s a very good team to start off the year with –

This next squad is more expensive it will cost around 50-60k I think but is definitely worth it, a very balanced team in attack and defence and will be a good squad to start with if your coin total is around 100-200k, again incorporates some of the crucial players and try to fit as many as I can as well as making the team balanced so you can run different formations to suit your style of football –
