In the early 1990s, Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel had left Brøndby to join Manchester United. He featured for Denmark during their famous European Championship win in 1992 and quickly built a reputation as the best goalkeeper in the world. He was named IFFHS World’s Best Goalkeeper in 1992 and 1993, and won back-to-back Premier League titles with Manchester United in 1993 and 1994 – the first of 5 Premier League titles he would win. 1993-94 also saw him complete a double by winning the FA Cup.
