FC 25 Title Update 3 Breakdown

Title Update 3 has hit FC 25 and it includes some of the biggest gameplay changes ever. Multiple key gameplay features have been altered such as trivelas, driven passes, goalkeepers and much more. This is a huge update and will affect how people play the FC 25 in the future!

Let’s check out some key of the gameplay changes from Title Update 3 of FC 25:

  • “Reduced accuracy of First Time Lobbed Through Passes including when performed at extreme angles. This change is most noticeable for players with high passing Attributes.”

This will stop your opponent from randomly hoofing the ball over the top of your defensive line and dropping it straight onto their attacker’s feet. As this will have the biggest change to the players with the highest passing accuracy, we should see this tactic be used less often from this point onwards.

  • “Greatly reduced potential accuracy of trivelas.”

Trivelas have been a clinical tool for players, as we’ve seen loads of goals being scored and conceded through trivela shots, especially green-timed ones. This nerf should decrease the chances of trivela shots from extreme angles and intense positions sailing into the top corner. We will also see some more realistic goals, which will allow for better gameplay.

  • “Greatly increased width of the defensive line for 5 defender formations.”

This is yet another huge change due to the defensive strength of 5 back formations in FC 25. Where before, five-at-the-back teams defended extremely narrow and were tough to break down; their width now has been increased, which will allow you to score more easily against an opponent who is playing this formation.

  • “Improved accuracy of shots taken in situations where the player is not being pressured and generally has a clear line of sight on goal, including 1 on 1 situations and open goals.”

If your player is in completely open space and has a shot from a distance relatively near the goal, they are more likely to score. Chances such a a 1-on-1 situation will give you as the attacker more of an opportunity to score a goal. This change should mean you score more goals, but it may also mean you may concede more also.

  • “During some long distance shots and corners, goalkeepers faced away from the ball unintentionally.”
  • In some cases, defenders could have turned and faced away from the ball instead of trying to intercept a pass.”

Changes like these are always positive, as something that wasn’t meant to happen has been corrected. The gameplay will become more realistic and AI players should react more humanly and try to intercept a ball or as a goalkeeper, face the correct way when being faced with a shot.

  • “Improved referee decision making when calling for fouls and penalty kicks.”

There have always been instances where we’ve conceded a penalty wrongfully or for such a minor occurrence. Now, decisions should be more conclusive and penalties/fouls should be given for the right reason.

How has the Community Reacted?

Due to the significance of these changes, many have had different experiences with the new patch. There’s been a mixed reaction on social media as many are disappointed with the nerf to trivela shots as these were key to scoring against low-block defences.

The extra width with a five-back-formation has been taken positively as scoring against players with this formation in Rivals or Champs was previously tough and has now become a whole lot easier.

It also seems that It is a lot easier to score 1-on-1s, which will allow for high-scoring games. This will put more pressure on you and your opponent to defend a lot more securely.

How has the Patch Affected Custom Tactics

Luckily, it seems as if there are no formations, roles or tactics that have been nerfed into the ground. The meta hasn’t altered much so there are no drastic changes that pro players are having to deal with in terms of how they set up their squad. People are still happy to play the same tactics as what they were using pre-patch, which is great.
